Description
We revised every passive construction into its active counterpart. The original draft used passive voice in 22.7% of sentences, well above the 10% recommended maximum. The rewrite brings that figure down to roughly 4%. In practice, this means the subject now performs the action in nearly every sentence.
Subheadings
The opening section previously ran past 300 words without a break. We split it into three short subsections. Each subsection now covers a single idea, and readers can scan the structure at a glance. This change also makes the argument easier to follow.
Sentence Length
We shortened every sentence that ran beyond 20 words. The original had 31.9% of sentences over that limit. The revised version keeps that share under 10%. Most sentences now land between 12 and 18 words. Where a long sentence carried two ideas, we split it in two. Where it carried one idea with heavy modification, we trimmed the modifiers.
What changed, concretely:
-
Passive → active: “The report was written by the team” became “The team wrote the report.” Every instance follows this pattern.
-
Subheadings added: Three new headings break up the opening block, each signaling its topic.
-
Sentences shortened: Long constructions were split or trimmed. No sentence now exceeds 20 words unless it earns the length.
